Dear Bernie:
Besides the anecdote that is included in my paper, I just
remembered that I have a song, the text of which is enclosed, that
you may consider relevant to the history of programming languages.
The song is nominally about Algol 68 but actually is applicable to
any committee designed programming language. It can be modified
for the occasion if you like.
I would be willing to sing it, but actually I am not good
at singing, and Dylan style singing is especially hard for me. It
would be best if you could recruit someone who can do it better.
In any case, there should be someone who can play a guitar.
If you need more work for such a person, I enclose another
Dylan adaptation - this time about IBM. The tune is one of Dylan's
most difficult, and no-one should assume he can sing it properly
without trying it first. I have never succeeded.
